A Bengali Play - Detective

A person walking at night

Detective is a Bengali Play full of mystery and suspense.

After two years of successful plays based on ghost stories, Actomania has this year chosen a detective story written by the Bengali Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore.

Adapted from this story, the play has been scripted by Ms Khadiza Bithi. Bengal's love for detective stories is deeply rooted in its literary culture with several icons defining this genre. Set in the city of Calcutta, the play focuses on the psychology of suspicion for a detective who looks for different challenges in crime investigation. But can a detective’s suspicious nature conflict with his personal life? Can that lead to a humorous and ironic conclusion?

This immersive play, intertwined with Tagore’s melodies is being produced with visually striking sets, several twists and turns, dramatic irony in an absorbing storyline.

Please note: The play will use strobe lighting and smoke/haze.
