A man looking at the camera

Artist in Residence Giovanni Adams presents the premiere of Motown Legacy, a contemporary Australian theatre work celebrating the music that broke down barriers and brought audiences together on the dance floor.

Through timeless Motown classics including “Ain’t No Mountain High,” “Dancing in the Street” and “What’s Going On,” Adams explores migration, belonging and cultural legacy through personal storytelling.

Motown Legacy connects African American history and the civil rights movement with Australia’s rich multicultural story, revealing how music shapes the way we remember, gather and find common ground.

Warm, nostalgic and uplifting, this story-led performance celebrates the enduring power of soul, pop and R&B to transcend borders and connect us across generations.

This is an all-ages event.

Created by Giovanni Adams, commissioned and supported by Greater Dandenong City Council.

This performance is part of the Drum's Encore Program.
