The tales of Krishna never cease to enthrall no matter how many times one reads or listens to them. Kaladhara Arts and Cultural Inc is proudly presenting, “Sri Krishna Leela,” a dance theatre production by Kalaimamani Madurai R Muralidharan and the students of Renuka Arumughasamy from Kalanjali School of Dance.
This production chronicles key events in the story of Krishna. Commencing with Krishna’s descent to earth as the eighth son of Vasudevar and Devaki, prophesied as the one to slay his uncle, Kamsa, the narrative moves on to Gokula where Krishna grows as the much adored darling of Gokula under the care of his foster parents Nandagopar and Yashoda.
The slaying of Poothana, Krishna’s innumerable childhood pranks, his magnificent dance on the outspread hoods of Kaliya, Krishna lifting up the Govardhana mountain to protect the denizens of Vrindavan from Indra’s wrath, the slaying of Kamsa, the delightful interlude of Radha and Krishna’s courtship, are the vignettes that unfold before you in this production, Sri Krishna Leela. Sit back and watch as the stories of Krishna unfold before you in all their myriad hues. Celebrate the joy that is Krishna.
